Happy International Day of Women Judges!
According to the United Nations, “By their mere presence, women judges enhance the legitimacy of courts, sending a powerful signal that they are open and accessible to those who seek recourse to justice.”
The Integrity Commission recognizes the importance of women judges in judicial justice systems. It is an indictment on the justice system that corrupt officeholders are not prosecuted. There must be evidence of justice to spurn criminal activity Achieving parity in the judiciary is one of the steps that our nation must take to ensure a transparent justice system that implements the law, and represents everyone in our nation.
In addition to this, we would like to reiterate, from our last post on Women’s Day, that women are especially vulnerable to the effects of corruption. Supporting women judges not only empowers these women, but also grants disadvantaged women the ability to have their voices heard.
